Anti Static Wrist Wrap (Recommended)
1. Ground Yourself:
Before opening up your laptop to install your memory it is
extremely important that you ground yourself. Computer Memory is
extremely sensitive to static electricity and a slight charge of static
electricity can cause the module to not work properly.
The best way to ground yourself is using an anti static
wrist wrap. Turn your computer off and leave it plugged in.
Place the anti static wrist wrap around your wrist making sure the metal
part touches your skin. Then take the grounding wire from the
wrist strap and connect it to any metal part of your computer. If
you don't have an anti static strap be sure to install your memory on a
surface that is not carpeted. Every 5 minutes or so be sure to
touch the metal part of your computer to discharge any static
electricity.

2. Locating and Accessing the
Memory Sockets:
Most newer laptops have memory sockets that are located on
the bottom of the laptop and are easy to find and easy to access; please
consult your manual if you are unsure where your memory sockets are
located. There are some older laptops that have memory under the
keyboard as well. Once you have located your memory sockets;
gaining access to them requires unscrewing of the panel which can be
handled with a tiny screwdriver. Usually there will be 1 or 2
sockets depending on your system configuration. If you need to
remove one or both of the modules that are already in your system press
outwards on the little plastic/metal clips holding the memory in its
socket and your memory will pop out at a 45 degree angle.

3. Installing your New
Memory:
Position your new module so that the gold sockets on the
memory module go into the socket first. Please make sure the notch
in the memory socket lines up EXACTLY with the ridge in the memory
socket. We have had a customer that tried to expand the notch in
the memory socket for it to line up properly by sanding off the edges of
the notch in the memory module. Unfortunately; this method does
not work. Hold your memory at a 45 degree angle and slide into the
socket; it should slide smoothly in. Then please apply some
pressure to make sure the memory module is inserted fully into the
socket; you should barely be able to see the gold pins. Now push
down on the module and it should snap right into place alongside those
little metal/plastic clips.

4. Closing your Laptop:
Your new memory is ready to use and you can screw the panel back
on and flip your laptop over. Be sure to plug in any cables,
connections you may removed.
